About the Event

A dance in the dark fundraising event: An hour of NAIDOC inspired grooves. ALL proceeds go to Merana Aboriginal Community Association of the Hawkesbury Inc. Switch Off & Groove is a dance class held in complete darkness. This fundraiser session invites participants to move and groove freely to a compilation of songs by Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander artists. With no instructor, no choreography and no expectations, Switch Off & Groove is a space where we switch off the lights, switch off our minds and just dance!

What to expect

-Lights will be dimmed when you arrive -Come in & put your drink bottle down -Give your eyes a chance to adjust -Move & groove in whichever way feels right for you -Be mindful of your fellow participants’ space (you will still be able to make out people’s silhouettes) -Take your drink & rest breaks whenever you’d like -Once the final song is complete, have a cheer, grab your stuff & head out! Remember: -Bring a drink bottle -Wear dark coloured clothes -Phones should not be used during the class -Talking should be kept to a minimum -Music will be an eclectic mix for everyone -Come with a friend or by yourself -Warm-up & drink breaks are each participant’s responsibility
