About the Group
✨
Macquarie University parkrun is a free, weekly 5-kilometre community event held every Saturday at 8:00 am within the scenic Macquarie University campus in Macquarie Park, Sydney. The course consists of two laps along internal sealed walkways, starting and finishing at Wally’s Walk near the intersection of Sir Christopher Ondaatjie Avenue. The route is predominantly flat, making it accessible for all fitness levels and ages. Participants can walk, jog, or run at their own pace, and the event welcomes everyone—from beginners to seasoned athletes. Registration is free but required once to receive a barcode for timing. Volunteers help organize the event, fostering a friendly and inclusive atmosphere. Free parking is available at the university’s West 5 car park during event hours, with public transport options nearby via the Macquarie University metro station and bus interchange. After the run, participants often gather for coffee at a nearby spot to socialize, enhancing community connection. The Macquarie University parkrun is part of the global parkrun movement promoting health, wellbeing, and social inclusion through regular physical activity in local open spaces. It is supported by the City of Ryde and encourages sustainable transport options and respect for shared paths.
