About the Group
✨
North Wollongong parkrun is a free, weekly, 5-kilometre community event held every Saturday at 8:00 AM in Fairy Meadow, New South Wales, near North Wollongong. It welcomes all levels of fitness, allowing participants to walk, jog, run, volunteer, or simply spectate without any prior experience needed. The course offers a scenic and varied terrain including grass, bike tracks, and trails through Puckey’s Estate and Stuart Park, with beautiful views of North Wollongong Beach. Since its start in September 2017, it has grown into a vibrant local community gathering, with an average of around 200 participants weekly and over 7,800 cumulative finishers. Milestones are celebrated with free t-shirts, and times are emailed to runners to aid personal goal-setting. The event also emphasizes volunteering and social connection, often concluding at nearby local cafes for post-run socializing. Parking is available close to the start line, and facilities include toilets at the start. It is part of the global parkrun movement promoting health, inclusion, and community spirit through accessible, no-cost physical activity.
