The Man Walk Ulverstone
About the Group
✨
The Man Walk Ulverstone is a weekly, free walking and talking group designed for men aged 18 and over, offering a safe and supportive environment to connect, share, and support each other. Meeting every Saturday morning at 9:00 am, the group starts from McCarthy's Bread Lounge in Ulverstone. It is led by local volunteers known as “Manbassadors,” fostering a positive atmosphere where conversations happen naturally while walking, helping break the stigma around men discussing their feelings. The initiative emphasizes social connection and mental health, inspired by the broader national Man Walk movement that began in Kiama in 2018 and has grown to around 70 sites across Australia. The Ulverstone Man Walk is part of this national effort to encourage men to "make it ok to talk and ask for help" as a means of suicide prevention and building community well-being. The walk suits all fitness levels and ages, providing an opportunity to meet like-minded locals in Northern Tasmania while enjoying the scenic coastal town.Ulverstone itself is a welcoming seaside town located on Tasmania’s northern coast, known for its family-friendly beaches, beautiful walking tracks, and vibrant community spirit, making it an ideal setting for health and social activities like The Man Walk.
