Trail Tales
About the Group
✨
Trail Tales in Ipswich, Queensland, is an innovative outdoor self-guided reading experience designed to promote literacy, learning, and family discovery throughout Ipswich City Council parks and notable locations. This initiative features "Stories for Little Queenslanders," a collection of 12 children's picture books created by local Queensland authors and illustrators, supported by the Queensland Government and the State Library of Queensland. Each Trail showcases a selected story, with large metal signs displaying book pages placed along nature walking paths. These signs include Braille to enhance accessibility, making the experience inclusive for all visitors.Developed by Ipswich Libraries, Trail Tales integrates outdoor learning with activities linked to the book's theme or the natural environment at the trail location, encouraging families to engage in reading while exploring the city's green spaces. This project is supported by a range of community partners including Australian Geographic, Scouts Queensland, and the Ipswich Koala Protection Society. It exemplifies Ipswich’s commitment to community connection, education, and outdoor engagement, providing a unique blend of storytelling and nature discovery in the region.
