✨
Ginninderra parkrun, affectionately known as 'Gindy' by locals, is a free, weekly 5km community event held every Saturday morning at John Knight Memorial Park in Belconnen, Canberra. Launched in 2012, it was the first parkrun in Canberra and the sixth in Australia, making it a beloved fixture in the region’s active lifestyle scene. The event welcomes participants of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds—whether you’re walking, jogging, running, volunteering, or simply spectating. The scenic course winds around the tranquil shores of Lake Ginninderra, offering a peaceful backdrop for both newcomers and seasoned athletes. Ginninderra parkrun is more than just a run—it’s a vibrant community gathering where people connect, share stories, and celebrate each other’s achievements. After the event, many participants enjoy a coffee catch-up, making it a perfect opportunity to meet new friends and feel part of something special. Registration is quick and only needs to be done once via the parkrun website. With its friendly atmosphere, beautiful natural setting, and inclusive spirit, Ginninderra parkrun is a must-try for anyone looking to stay active and engaged in the Canberra community.
